I repeated the procedure with a fresh number sent to me. It was again rejected as incorrect. The page then asked me to change my personal details, password and so on. I logged off. I think it is a hack. Please advise

Still an issue today, so contacted Halifax on their Facebook messenger and they werent aware of any problems and told me to try using a different browser. This did work, but not ideal. But it may help some others get through this issue until whatever the problem is fixed.
