If people can't access easily they will go elsewhere and OS revenue will actually fall rather than increase. Only those who really need the OS maps will use them, most casual users will go elsewhere

I have been using it both for personal stuff and for supporting mountain rescue operations. It's serious loss if it's gone. It was always there regardless of logins and subscriptions. A resilient service. The question surely has to be, what can we do that would enable reinstatement?

Inverness, United Kingdom • 9 days agoApologies for the double post earlier, it didn't look like it had posted - looks like others fell foul of that too. Anyway, from previous comments it seems there are now fears Streetmap has gone. If that's the case that's bad news and very annoying. It's been by far the best map service and while I know we're meant to be avoiding printing stuff off these days, it's been the best at providing good clear print versions. All other online maps I've seen are inferior, often lack detail, and print very badly.

OS website currently selling 3 paper maps for £23 which is over 40% discount. I have about 50 Landrangers and it's a joy to have a big picture with County names at the edge and freedom from no signal/low battery!

This has been happening for a few days now.
The maps on the streetmap.co.uk/ website are far superior to the "Big Name" websites that have very little useful detail apart from adverts for businesses and the colours are washed out compared to streetmap.co.uk/.

Worthing, United Kingdom • 10 days agoLorna, it's years since I went to one...main Libraries had a full set of "1 inch" Landranger maps in the Reference Section and some had them for Borrowing but only 1 of each. Otherwise it's WH Smith, now called TG Jones, larger branches have a good set, you can always buy the one most useful for you and look at Explorer maps with a scale between the two on Streetmap. They've never been available online - could pay OS for online access, no idea what it costs.

I may have to use a combination of OSmaps.com and footpathapp.com to get the information I need. It may be that I am old school but somehow I found the Streetmap maps more in line with my many years of using OS maps and easier to follow than the free OS maps on the OSmaps.com site ....or maybe I just need to subscribe for the paid for part of the OSmap.com site ;-(
